CC' ing heads

I got a bridge and dial indicator and checked the deck, but finding a "cheap" cc method for the heads is tougher.
Any suggestions?

Made a tool for pulling the studs, tapped and installed threaded rocker studs, but need some ideas on making a cc stand.

Not sure what you are asking.
I've CC'd lots of small block heads, my stands are pretty simple, don't remember the brand, but you could boot leg them. Just a pair of heavy metal things that look vaguely like an Andiron from a fireplace. That gives the head four legs, with two tapered things sticking through head bolt holes.
They hold the head super secure.
I use a large hypodermic needle and distilled water to check the exact capacity of the head chamber.
Are you looking for a more hi-tech method?

You are right, but the difference is so minor, Vs, the fire hazard, evaporation rates, etc. that I never bothered.

Never CC'd heads before.

My wood head stands are ok, I can level the head. What I've read is using lexan to seal the chamber, bolt or clamp with light sticky grease, and some sort of test tube thing to fill and use.
Have a drilled single hole over the chamber area, fill the tube with about 120 cc's of something, my heads should be around 70-75 cc's though, heard ATF fluid is good to use, drain it into the chamber until it fills it and subtract what's left from the total?
But I have no idea about where to get such a CC measured tube. Medical supply store?

I just use alcohol and a 100cc burette. When the chamber is full, I subtract what is left from 100.

Brian, did you just CC them open air? I've always heard to close it off with Lexan or plexiglass.
Where do you get a burette?

My burette (and various other measuring devices) found their way to my home when I was in high school.

Basically, it is a super cheap version of this.

$20 gets you a piece of plexiglass and a 100cc burette.

Cheap enough, I figure I should be able to get a burette like that locally if I knew where to look, have plenty of lexan.
100 ml on ebay is $70, Summit racing is $120 something.
Guess I'll talk with the local pharmacy.

I rarely buy from Summit. They're about inline with Jeg's and NAPA (a bit overpriced). The only time I buy something from there is when I can't find it at a circle track oriented store. (For example, most people on ovals run SBC's, not Olds... Summit does carry some Olds stuff that I need.)

I heard that, Pontiacs are just about as hard to buy for.

I picked up 20 large, brand new irrigation syringes (graduated in CC) for $3 each! I use them mainly for rebuilding forks on my bikes and have used them for injecting Moglice epoxy into machine ways.

I know that it was either Hot Rod or Car Craft that has a huge head guide on their internet site....if you know your head model I'm sure its listed.

They have all the flow numbers as well as the interchange guide, I've used it a few times and its really nice.
