Sorry to bust your thread, But the Kobalt items you have listed are NOT made by Williams. They are made by Danaher. They are 1ST gen Danaher. Still great tools, that are the same as Armstrong, KD, NAPA and allen but they are 100% not Williams Kobalt.

This is a Williams made kobalt ratchet,

My understanding is that Williams made tools for kobalt up until 2003, and that there were 3 handle designs from 1998 until then. The funky double bubble that you're showing, the snap-on esque style tha I've got, and e squared off ones.

nope sorry, Danaher took over in 1999. The easiest way to tell is by the snap ring. Williams has never made a ratchet with a snap ring. They all have cover plate screws that hold it together. Snap rings are a dead give-a-way for Danaher. The tools you got are still fantastic and just as good as the Williams ones, They are machined better inside then a craftsman, and to top that off you can still get rebuild kits for them from NAPA, Armstrong and craftsman. They are basically NAPA/Armstrong. Although they share the same guts as the craftsman, they are machined much better and have a hardened pawl and gear.


Here is an Allen ratchet with the same head and guts, with a different handle.
