bummer, my CDI 2503 MFRMH wrench is only 3 yrs old. Was intermittently jamming so I opened it up and one of the pawls is broke clean. Kind of disappointed to tell you the truth, no way it should fail this soon. Never been abused, 2-3 lugs a week, a crank bolt or two monthly, lower strut bolts, but nothing ever more than the rated 250 lbs ft max.

I called CDI and they said it's out of warranty. I can send it in, or get a repair kit somewhere. May just jump to another more durable brand though.

Wow. I had a high use HF wrench have a similar failure.

Odd they wouldn't warranty the gears for life. It's a torque wrench. As you said not an abuse prone tool. Calibration is one thing but the basic wrench mechanism failed.

Edit- FWIW snap on has a lifetime warranty on the ratchet head. Really hard to beat a tech angle. I too would be buying gears vs shipping the wrench out.

**** happens. Just buy/request a repair kit and move on. But do you have a Snap On dealer? One of their repair kits may also fit.

I'm guessing the pawl wasn't fully seated before being used. No accusation, just done it myself and had the same issue.

anyway, went ahead and ordered the repair kit from TeamTorque $45 shipped. Believe me i thought about other choices like the eTork alternative at around $70. Mostly because the CDI isn't that great to use--the scale is really difficult to read and it's low tooth count, and now the durability is in question. Thinking back, i think it was a Toyota crank bolt at 243 lb that may have whacked it, seems like it started to act funny after that.

Compared to the Norbar I just got for another use case, the CDI isn't even close. The Norbar is easy to read and set and seems really high quality. No idea on durability though.
