CDI Torque Wrench with Snap On Ratchet Head?

Has anybody tried this?

I am torn between the CDI 2503MFRMH and the GearWrench 85181. The CDI looks like a solid choice except for the low tooth count head (30 teeth). The GearWrench has similar specs and a 120xp head. So that got me wondering, would it be possible to get a Snap On 1/2 inch Dual 80 head and install it on the CDI shaft. Furthermore, could a flex head SO head be used?

In theory, assuming the CDI and SO shafts/internals are similar, I should be able to bolt up the parts in the red circle to the CDI. Big question is cost, since the main parts (28&29) are not listed in SO’s website.

Plausible, but not practical. How are you going to find the Snap On head? It's very different from regular ratchet head. Snap On does have "Y" or "J" shank heads for exchangeable torque wrenches, I doubt they fit without modification. Even if you find one, it's not going to be cheap and you are not sure if it indeed fits perfectly.

Why not looking for a used Snap On instead? CDI is no Snap On.

I don't think it's possible to add flex head. The added length could make it impossible to have it properly calibrated.

I have 1/2" Snap On Techangle, also the Gearwrench 85181, which feels like a sword, solid built, and very accurate.

Understandable. I have access to some SO torque wrenches at work so I’m probably thinking about getting the CDI and comparing it to it. Getting the head might be a challenge for sure but I could call SO and see if and how much they would sell it for.

You can buy replacement flex heads for some torque wrenches directly from Snap-On's website. They are listed under repair parts within each Torque Wrench listing.

Example: https://shop.snapon.com/repair-products/3-8%22-Drive-SAE-Adjustable-Click-Type-Flex-Head-Torque-Wrench-(5-75-ft-lb)/QD2FR75B
