Looking to get a 220v HF (CE) spot welder for my sons Jeep XJ rebuild.
Using a spot welder (vs MIG) because there are a few panel pinch seam adhesives/sealers that are made for spot welding, but will not hold up to MIG. Plus prior to assembling the various new panels, they will be painted with Zinc-Chromate Alkyd primer, and the ERW spot welding will keep more of the paint intact. (I don't want to get in a discussion about "weld thru primer, I've done my research and steering clear of that snake oil).
Anyhow I need a set of tongs to reach around the rocker panel to hit the floor pan too inner rocker seam. This will require 4.75" from the tong tip to the machine (depth?), and 5" width from tong to tong -- Providing 1 tong is straight and one is a "C" shape.
I found someone stating that HF sells "offset tongs", but can not find any?

Any ideas? Has anyone made an offset tong? is there a special alloy?
Thanks,
