What kind of contraptions have you folks come up with to hang a fan from the ceiling area that was spray foamed?
Do I need to put a support beam from side to side (18’ span) to hang it from?

I feel like unistrut might be overkill but would give you flexibility to hang lights and other things as well.

This is one reason why it's nice to get the electrical infrastructure in place before the spray foaming.

Run a 18’ long unistrut from one side to the other?

I mean that is an option. It is tough to see with the foam in the way but you may be able to support the fan without going the whole length across. Lot of variables come into play. A large fan may need more support.

This is what the ceiling looked like before I had it sprayed.
One option, that I’m not really fond of but may possibly work is getting rid of the foam over these little support brackets so it gives me enough room to shove a 2 x 6 and lay it on top across two of them. The thing I’m worried about is these brackets are held in with a total of four self tapping screws. I’m sure all the foam adds to the strength but how much it adds I am not sure.

The other option is get a small H beam or I-beam and run it across the garage from left to right. I know the frame on the left-hand side will hold 200 pounds. I currently have a unit strut with a little winch to pick things up every now and then. When I picked up a compressor, I did not hear any creeks or stress from the metal. The other end of the I-beam will obviously have a support pole going down to ground level.

This seems like a lot of work to do for a fan installation, but I’m not sure what are my other options are.

The second picture that shows the foam panels on the ceiling you can get a clear view of the area I would put the beam on. I ended up taking these panels down and had everything foamed.

Id probably do as your "red box" below. Connect the 2 (3 if youre concerned about their strength) supports with a piece of Unistrut, then a fan box on top of that. This will allow you to keep your foam intact. Other ideas would work, but require you to disturb the foam.
