Ceiling Fan Install

Hello all. I recently had a 30x50 metal garage built and now I am looking to install a few ceiling fans. I have purchased two TPI 60" ceiling fans but wanted to get opinions on the best way to install them. They will need to be centered between two steel joist but not sure the best way to do that. My garage has 2.5" tube steel joist spaced at 4'-0"/oc. I have been toying with the idea of using a 2x6 spanning from joist to joist and then mounting my fan to that. The fan uses a J-hook to install so traditional brackets and framing will not work. Would a 2x6 be a wise choice or should I find some tube steel, angle, or C-channel? Just wondering what the best material would be. Any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

Not sure what a TPI is ... but, just make sure you set the fans down low enough if you have a cathedral type setup In an industrial setting where the cooling and heating comes from the ceiling you will see the big fans up higher -- they move lots of air with slow motion and move all the air in the space around. For many garage spaces you want to make sure the fan is low enough so it does not pull all the heat off the ceiling when you are trying to AC .... often with AC the fans can be more of a problem. w/o ac you still want some heat stratification at the top.

In heat mode with reversing they don't need to be right up to the ceiling.

Thanks for the comments so far. This is my shop 30x50 with 12ft walls. No AC or heat. TPI is the brand of the fan. Fans will be centered between the roll up doors so I need to span between the two 2.5" square tube ceiling joist. This will center the 60" fan between my center row of lights. I have 6ft between lights. Fan will be on an 18" down rod.

Will 1" unistrut sag from the weight of the fan? I mounted an air hose reel on 1/2" unistrut and it bows out about 2".
