Hi,
Looking for ideas on how you guys have done your fans on the liner panel. What depth do you set your electric box. The fan I have has four rubber bumpers on the mounting plate, should I mount it to a piece of plywood first the maybe j channel around it or cut a hole in the panel and fit around it. Thanks

While not a ceiling fan, I used some plastic bulb holders on the house garage ceiling. That ceiling is white ribbed metal/liner panel. The boxes I used stuck down below the panels and I merely wrapped the exposed box with a piece of coil stock. I put a rivet in it, put it in place and caulked around it.

It's 10 1/2 feet in the air and nobody pays any attention to the detail.

let me get a pic of them now....

This picture is from the landing going/out from the house. It's the closest you get to any of the lights.

Not sure if this helps but it was a simple cheap and easy fix to cover a gap.

Lining up the fan box in the center of the flat between the ribs would be the best solution. Bridge the gap between the rafters with 2x12 with the proper depth spacing for the box then drill large hole after panel is in. Add insulation before sealing it up.

I centered mine in between the high ribs. Used a heavy duty fan box between the ceiling joists. I mounted the box so the face of the box was held slightly high of the liner panel.
