I'm at the point where I need to install the prep for a ceiling fan in the new shop. Any recommendations for a fan unit? Shop is 30 X 36 X 13.

I used the search and predictably it told me there were no posts with the word fan in them. Uh huh...

I use an "industrial" size fan I picked up at home Depot, shop is 30x40, I don't remember the blade length. Maybe look for one that you can reverse from the remote?

For whatever reason, the search function will not work for words or phrases that are three letters long or less.

It turns out Home Depot sells a variety of industrial ceiling fans: https://www.homedepot.com/s/industrial%20ceiling%20fan?NCNI-5

Thanks. I did use google and some of their little known operators to search this site. Found some stuff, but seems like it's all the same info today as it was 3 years ago. Guess there isn't much to change in the ceiling fan tech world! lol

I chose a Big *** Fan. 240 volt variable speed.

Built like a tank and everyone comments on it.

No regrets here, although they are not inexpensive.

I got one of these Fenceham 84s from HD and it does well on highest speed. Lower than that it doesn't seem to have a lot of pitch in the blades.

I got a couple of Westinghouse 3 blade versions (linked above) but in the brushed silvery bare-metal finish as well to compliment. These are waiting to be installed soon.

I see there are some "BIG AIR" fans out there that are in the $500-600 range, guessing they are trying to mimic the BIG DONKEY fans but lower price point.

I have (3) of these 56" Industrial 3-blade ones in my 40'x40' shop and they make a big difference. Got 'em from Amazon for less than $60 each.

I have the same fan in the brushed nickel. Opted for the slider control instead of the included contol, but otherwise it's worked great. It's plenty of fan for a 28x32x12. I just set it on low a couple of years ago and it's been doing it's job ever since. Only on rare occassions does it ever get turned up higher. Great value for the money.
