Ceiling fan selections

I know quite a few folks here have gone with the Westinghouse fan from Home Depot in their garages for around $75, which is a killer deal. I started looking at it and at other options available. That fan is rated for around 6500cfm.

I found these for a bit more

So my initial plan was to get 3 of the westinghouses ( 19,500cfm) but now I'm thinking these may be more effective.

Thoughts?

I'm using a pair of these (http://www.fandiego.com/products/product.aspx?pid=2-3317&flt=NTZ8U2lsdmVyXzJ8NTAtNTk=) on 18-inch down rods in our 22x28x12 garage. Will have one set in summer mode and the other in winter mode to circulate the air completely around the space.

The Home Depot fans discussed in the threads are not Westinghouse fans. Those are 56" with a metal blade, and the HD fans are 60" with a hard plastic blade.

I think most people found the Westinghouse fans at Amazon.

The 60" one you link to above claims 46,000 CFM and .84 amp draw. The Home Depot fan is same diameter, HIGHER amp draw at just over 1.0 amp, and only claims something south of 10,000 CFM. I don't for a minute believe the 46,000 figure.

Ah ok I was thinking they were Westinghouse for some reason.

The CFM claims do seem rather inflated but then I did find some similar claims on other sites. For example the 56" fan Notgrownup mentioned

I bought a Hunter on sale at Lowes. Got my Vets discount also. I think about 55 altogether. Just hung it today. 44 inch fan, really moves the air. 96 today in Oklahoma. Was a little over 80 in the shop, which is 24X24. Good to go.

Hahahaha.

THey've been getting weird about the discount around here. Now they're saying active duty or medical disabled with a card that says "service connected disability". Lowes is still good about the discount.

I'm going to give the $90 fans a shot, with the $49 single variable controller. We'll see how it goes...
