Ceiling fan

This isn't actually heating/cooling but I figured there might be some good advice here. I'm currently going through a garage reno and won't be putting a hvac system. So I'm leaning towards a larger ceiling fan to move air around during the summer months. My garage is roughly 23 ft x28 ft and the high point of the ceiling where the fan would mount is roughly 16 ft high. Does anyone have recommendations on which ceiling fans they would recommend?

I have had good luck with Craigslist ceiling fans. I like the fans better in the winter to keep the air from layering. I set the thermostat at 3c and have the fans running all of the time;
I have about $20 ******* in both fans.

Great to hear about the westinghouse. I was looking at those but want quite sure about them. And I'm also hesitant about blowing 3k on a big@ss fan

Thinking as an alternative.

Lots of times it's hotter in my garage than it is outside. At that point, you can open the doors and a ceiling fan would help a lot.

But I don't like to have my doors open with bugs and what not...so I've used a window exhaust fan (Amazon has them for $60 or so). At work, we busted out some blocks and installed a permanent one with louvers (controlled by a switch and a speed control).

Does a good job of making the inside of the shop the same temperature as the outside air...as opposed to a ceiling fan which may push the hot air near the ceiling down at you and actually warm things up.

That westinghouse has summer and winter modes. You just change the Dip switch on the remote. No need to have to climb up to the fan and set a switch.

Be mindful. In the summer with high ceiling it's often better to not have the fan pull air from the top of the ceiling .... this will be hotter.

Always have the fan on a long rod and allow the heat to stratify.

My garage will be configured with two doors (10x8), two windows and a side door. I'm thinking during the summer months with the doors/windows open, it should evacuate the got air pretty quick and provide some good air flow. I can deal with warm air as long as it's moving.

IMHO, Craig's list fans are great for a garage, their free price tends to add to their beauty.

If appearance is a factor, the Hampton Bay fans usually are a good value.

The Emerson fans I purchased from WW Grainger have been approved by SWMBO.

Caution shade tree idea ahead...

My garage is small 18-24, I attacked an adjustable angle floor fan to the back wall. About eight feet up, in the winter I aim it down to pull the heat down. In the summer it is aimed upward to push warmer air out the door and allow cooler air in.

Cord hangs where I can plug it in when needed. I use the broom handle to adjust the angle. Dollar store in season about $20. I choose black because it best matched my decor...
