Getting ready to put up a replacement fan the fiance picked out for the bedroom. It's a six speed fan and comes with it's own controller to install in place of a single switch. I'm waiting on a specialty toggle-decora-toggle wall plate to come in first.

I currently have a switch that controls the light (and brightness) and a second switch that controls the fan and it's 3 speeds. I'll install the new controller in the second bay to control the fan. But I want to bypass the controller/receiver for the light and keep that function separate on the first switch.

I just un-wirenut the blue and white labeled for light use and and connect the wires to the light to the red and white in the ceiling box, bypassing the receiver?
And then there's the black, white, and ground for the fan that will connect to the receiver.

It looks like that will work since your receiver is not integrated in the fan. Just run your power from the wall switch for the light to the wire marked "light" coming from your fan, not the receiver. So bypass the receiver all together for the light. You most likely have a 3-wire romex coming from the switches. (2) switched hots and neutral. Make sure your dimmer is LED rated if your fan has LED's

Perfect!! Thank you Terry
I had done something very similar with a remote for ceiling fan at my parents house, but I was starting to doubt myself on this one.
The new light is LED and I'm fairly certain the light switch isn't LED rated so I'll pick up a new one.

I have yet to see a switch that has been marked as LED rated; but then I have not seen everything. LED rated dimmers are another matter.

Had a day off Sunday and got it hung.
Install went great and the light works exactly like I'd hoped for.

Looks good from here, next time you might change those two switches to the Decora Style and then a normal Decora 3 device cover plate would have solved your problem.

Have a couple of fans that mount like that .... mine are from the "modern fan company" . Like the no down rod look. I'm not a big fan lover -- but they are beneficial in some spaces
