I have 3 Menards 56" industrial ceiling fans all wired to a single speed control. They are hung down the center of the shop. Actually just got them running last week and at their lowest setting they have the faintest hum to them. I'd say they're right at 60 rpm or so and help keep the air stratification to a minimum. I'm not fond of higher velocity air. It's annoying to me, so I favor the lower speeds.

Zombie thread, I just ordered 2 of the 56" from menards, they had them onsale for $39 each. How did you wire multiple to the same speed controller?

I just bought the same Menards fans because of the sale. Going to put 2 on the covered/screened deck. Most "included" fan controllers are for a single fan and rated at 1.5amps or less. So putting 2 fans will overload the controller, and cause humming. All of these fan controllers adjust capacitance to make the motor run at different speeds, same with the pull chain switch on the fan itself.

I bought this 5 amp multi fan controller for about $20. Shows out of stock though?

I had an OLD faux White 42" in the old shop to move air. The new Shop needed one. Pretty soon after the house down the road sold, two 42" brushed bronze fans were out in their Trash!

Update on my "free" fans!
Since I put it up I noticed less air flow. Studying it I realized the old fan has a 16 inch tube suspending it which makes it closer to me. The new one only has a 6 inch tube which makes it farther from me.
Is there a "Design" sweet spot that a fan should hang from the ceiling to get maximum flow with minimum turbulence or restriction from the ceiling?
