I am getting ready to mount a 45,000 btu Modine ceiling furnace and thought I'd ask if there were any recommended placement angles for best coverage. Ideas are :

Center of the wall blowing straight ahead
In the corner blowing along the most exposed wall to prevailing winds
In the corner angle to center of shop

Help... suggestions needed. How did you guys do it... and reason why...
Thanks,
Barry

I just installed a Beacon Morris 45k unit on the ceiling of my garage. It was suggested I point it in the direction of the area with the greatest heat loss, in my case the north facing wall with 27' of garage door.

Thanks Bojans ... it's nice to know that at least one of the 68 readers of this thread actually has enough time to write a one liner to help some one else... much appreciated...

Well, I guess I will post my recommendation. In the back corner facing the opposite corner of the shop.

I pointed mine towards the overhead door. I figured that would be the area of greatest heat loss. Not sure if it is the right way, but it has been working well for me.

I positioned mine at an angle pointing towards the biggest door. It is about 25-30’ deep and about 5’ to the right of the door. This not only heats the area of greatest heat loss it also creates a circular airflow around that half of the garage. That’s usually my work area and it makes nice and warm while keeping the air moving.

My garage faces east/west and the roof roof trusses go north/south, so I put my heater at the north end in the middle so the exhuast vent goes up through near the peak and the heater blows straight south across my garage. My t-stat is on one of the poles at the north as well near the heater but not near an opening for any of my overhead doors, it is closer to my walk door. No problems with this setup whatsoever, works great and I am really liking my heated garage.
