I found a lot of discussion on ceiling height for 2 and 4 post lifts but nothing specific for flush mount lifts. It seems like most of the flush mount lifts have a rise of about 72". Suburban: 74.4" height, 7.9" ground clearance (lifting points at 12"?). If you use some 6" lift blocks on the lift 72" lift rise + 6" + 74.4" vehicle height - 12" floor to lift points = 11'-8.4" That's a pretty tall vehicle and tall lift blocks. I see people recommending 13' and 14' ceilings which I assume is for stacking vehicles which obviously isn't possible with the flush mount lift. Am I missing something?

Kind of an old thread, but since you didn't get an answer...

Assuming by "flush mount lifts" you mean something like the Rotary Smartlift, you are more or less correct. I have a Smartlift and a Ford Excursion. My lift is situated in the center of a 3-bay garage, and the lifted vehicle runs parallel to a 12'6" ridgeline. The ceiling height at the sides of the lifted vehicle is roughly 12'. I use 9" risers to keep the lift arms off of the sliders.

Though in the photo below you can't tell it, I can lift the Excursion over my 5'10" head easily, and the only thing that touches the ceiling is my 4' CB antenna.
