If you ever decide to drywall your space, the extra height will work out well with flat wall materials. Taller is better in many instances.

Does anyone else see the humor in Goldie Lox and Cyber Bear discussing anything but even funnier when Goldie Lox starts with 8 foot is to short, 10 foot is to tall but 9 foot is just right?

No offense intended

!0. More height is always better in a work space, unless you're a watchmaker or something. Besides, it's a lot less cutting when it comes time for sheet rock!

Now that you put it like that, yes, it made me chuckle.

I'd go with 10' ceilings.

Attic above?

I would go 10' as other have said. I have 10' and then transition to rafters/stick for the vaulted section for the lift. I thought about doing 9' also for a little more headroom in the attic, but it is just for storage and I think the extra foot on the floor will be nice.

ya its the only spot with a loft. the rest is open up to 14. so i really dont need height in that spot but......

thinking i might go metal walls. havent really decided on it but thats the way i am leaning.
