Looking to install a modified version of an attic hoist system I saw on YouTube by user "Engine3FF". I will be mounting to the ceiling instead to hoist a 6'x6' platform for my two 12' kayaks and gear. This can also be seen as a motorized version of the RACOR lift that is no longer available in retail stores.
My question is this, is it possible to use, or has anyone looked into using vinyl coated wire rope on garage door drums? I would prefer the vinyl coated wire rope, but if I end up having to use the standard garage door style uncoated wire cables I will.
