Ceiling Insulation for 30x40 with attic truss

I am in the process of finishing the inside of my pole barn which is 30x40 with attic truss. It will probably be next year before I can install the ceiling which is going to be steel. I was thinking of putting up plastic on the bottom of the trusses and blowing the insulation on top of the plastic. I then can install the ceiling at a later date when I can afford it, but have some heat retention.
Good idea or bad?

What is the truss spacing? Pole barn? 6-8 foot? Plastic is going to have a hard time holding that up. You'd likely need to install some furring, which by the time you pay for that, might as well have put up the steel.

The trusses are on 24" centers

24" is better. I'd still hold the plastic up with cheep furring strips though.

attic trusses - so you are going to insulate the attic floor ? How deep are your bottom chords? Batts might be simpler and give you better r value. Or is this under the roof over the attic? I assume you have the attic floor down?

I am going to insulate the attic floor. Bottom cords are 2x10 and the floor is installed. Attic floor ends about 8' from the wall. Just trying insulate the ceiling, roof has double bubble insulation on it. Not really worried about the temperature in the attic space.

I think blowing insulation before the ceiling is going to give you trouble trying to install the ceiling later due to the creep of insulation between truss and plastic, making for a not flat surface.

Batts will stay up for some time. Put in R30, then blow in more later if you want.

Please don't attempt to put insulation on just the poly. You're not going to like the results, especially when the poly starts to give away. And if you put temporary furring strips up, then you'll have to remove them when you put up a ceiling, and then you risk the poly/insulation falling. It would be a big can of worms.

Save up for doing the ceiling at the same time. And then blow cellulose in it. More effective and cheaper than fiberglass.

That is what I did but didn't have any issues. My attic floor was already in place so I stapled mesh on the bottom of the chords then blew in cellulose from the sides to fill the entire pocket. No issues at all when it came time for drywall.
