Going to be insulating my detached garage, now for the ceiling my truss are 24 inch center. My Buddy tells me I should attach strapping 16 inch center, that way the presswood will stay straight. Does that make any sense or i'm good putting my presswood 24 inch center...

Thanks

By presswood do you mean OSB? I have OSB in my garage with 24" on center trusses with no sag.

I'm guessing the ceiling is open? Why use OSB for a ceiling instead of drywall? If you are going to hang OSB from your trusses and add strapping on 16" that might be too heavy for the trusses to handle.
How about some pictures?

This is a detached garage, don't really want to put drywall/mud/tape, going with OSB for that reason.

7/16" OSB works fine on 24 OC. Run it cross ways/perpendicular to the joists. OSB weighs about 20 lbs less per sheet than 5/8 drywall (required for 24" OC span).

If you are worried about weight use those 2x4 dropped ceiling panels.
They are real light and can add a little insulation.

Also consider adding clips between the trusses, they are required when using sheathing and 24" OC spacing for the roof (at least in my neck of the woods) so for an interior roof, they might be beneficial as well...

and of course could be painted over as well...
