What are other options out there? Has to look clean and not too bad/easy to install.

I'll be adding strapping once the vapor barrier is up and truvent installed.

Post pics of what you did that's not the norm!

I went with a metal ceiling. It does a nice job of reflecting light. My walls are the same metal for the top 5-feet, then T1-11 (exterior grade) paneling under that. I really like it.

Hoosierbuddy - looks awesome!

I just seen some threads through searching (should have done that first) where people used soffit.

Has to be cost effective - I like the idea of not having to paint either!

I just ordered them, should be going up this weekend. The price isn't super cheap but comparing it to drywall (if you calculate time of finishing it) you will come out about even. also, dura panel is galvanized, if i remember correctly. So when you are washing the car in the garage you don't have to worry about getting them wet.

I imagine anything goes until you hit some budget limit. I like the metal ideas - until I priced it out at 5~6 times what drywall costs. Hard to beat 32 sq/ft of wall coverage for $7.

thats what i thought, i hung drywall in my garage, bought tape and joint compound, started taping and mudding , said screw it after about one wall and a corner.. dont forget to figure in mudding, sanding, and paint time..
I wish I would have bit the bullet and went with metal the first time, at some point i will probably put metal over the drywall. i would much rather have the metal around my mill and workbench also

Dry wall seems cheaper then steel untill you add in extra weight, taping, primer, paint, not water proof. You can wash the tin if need be. All of a sudden tin doesn't look that bad.

If its a polebuilding with 4 oc trusses steel can go right to the bottom of the trusses, its a clean easy to install method, that helps lighting alot.
Whatever method you use I would put up a vapor barrier use that on your side walls but you want whatever moisture you have in there to rise up through the roof.

How about 1/2" sheets of melamine. White, cleans easy and looks good. No paint necessary.

how about a suspended ceiling with 2x4 drop in panels. that's what i used in my shop.
easier to install and finish than drywall, and easy to remove panels for wiring changes.
I even got the 2x4 parabolic lights that drop into them to finish it off, similar to what you see in hospitals/retail outlets.
