In the process of laying out my ceiling.

Shop build starts Monday 6/22.
40x64x16 building - Metal liner ceiling
Question on ceiling fan placement.

Lighting will be 10 - 200W Hyperlite Hero's spaced in two rows 10' from side walls & 12.8' between them, mounted @ ceiling height.

Heat will be a single radiant tube heater down the center of the building.

I want to place 4 High Volume Low Speed ceiling fans to circulate air, mostly for winter heat, but some for summer air circulation.
The question is will 24" down rods cause "shutter" effect if placed between the lights?

I'm not sure if radiant gas tube heaters require the same as a hot air heating system. (Push down the warm air)
My only experience with radiant tube is in a HD checkout area where it is radiating like the sun and seems very effective without fans.
In my last shop with the hanging "modine" type air heater is that what is comfortable air temperature for a shop (55*+/-) has the feel of a cold breeze with 60/70* air blowing across you. Very uncomfortable.
Hopefully someone will jump in here with a scientific answer to the term radiant.
I'd put in the fans more for drying a "dewey" floor or cooling purposes.

Yeah my fathers shop, which is smaller and stick built has a radiant tube heater, and it heats nicely without fans.
I guess my reasoning could be flawd but that is where my head went.

I'm not doing any windows, so the fans will be the majority of my "cooling" if you want to call it that

Circulation for moisture control is a bonus also

I would do another row or two of lights.
At least another row down the middle.
I have a 40x60x16, no ceiling (plenty of spread)and lights are about 20 and 25 ft up. I have only a 40x40 covered right now with 10 lights 200W each.
I still need to add two more on the 4 rows you see.
Where im standing in that 20x40 area to take the Pic has no lights and you can see well enough but now enough to do any work.
That area will need at least 4 more lights.
So when im done I'll have a total of 16 200watt lights.

One in each corner between the first and second lights, at 84" diameter and with an 8" down rod I think they will not have any shudder effect. The fan blades will be 35" from the light on either side.

Down the center I will place the tube heater. 50' Re-Verber Ray HL3 150K BTU

You want to try that layout with the fans running and lights on with temporary wiring. Fans running may cause an annoying strobe effect.

Elevation can help this.......fan blades higher than fixtures.

yes I understand the effect if placed under the lights or in the light beam.

With a 120 degree beam angle and the fan 22.5" from the ceiling, I should be 27+" outside the beam angle.
