I know this has been covered a bunch and I’ve done some research, but I’m looking to finish my ceiling on the cheap. I’m in NH so we don’t have Menards where they sell the cheap duraliner. What I found today at Lowe’s was 1/8” hardboard with almost a whiteboard finish on one side. My spacing is 24” joists so I have concerns with bowing between the joists. Has anyone used this stuff? I need 30 sheets for my ceiling and they’re $14 a sheet. Seems like it would really brighten up my shop.

Check with a metal distributor. Ask if they have metal that is rated for interior liner. Often times it has a “non warranty” paint that is much less. In my area, the interior metal is 1.89 a foot versus 2.99 a foot for exterior grade. Keep in mind the cost per foot is actually 3 square feet. Best of luck!

+1 on liner panel, most all lumberyards should be able to get it and they can get it cut to size that is convenient for you.

I finished my ceiling with white metal roofing from Harvey Industries. They have several locations in NH. It was a special order cut to the length i specified.

I have a Menards (several in fact) in my area. I got liner panels from someone else. I didn't realize Menards had it and the other place was recommended. So the lack of Menards shouldn't keep you from getting liner panels.

I didn’t realize most places could get the garage line. That would be ideal. Guess I have some shopping around to do.
