New house with hardie siding and smartside soffits and trim.
Was at a hardware store and ran across cement board screws. Never knew of such.

I ran an exterior screw in a piece of scrap of the smartside and it wouldn’t have held in nothing.
Builder told me a lot of times they use anchors.?
I ain’t never used an anchor in wood, but I ain’t ever had “fake wood” on a house.

What makes these cement board screws so special?
Do they come in stainless?
Any brand better or worse than the others?
Do they work?

All I'm doing is mounting speakers on the back porch.

Thanks

Do they work?
Yes, but they are intended to anchor cement board to wood framing or subfloors. They are not intended to fasten items to cementitious substrates.

Sounds like you are best off using anchors. You might visit the Hardie website to see if they have recommendations.

ok appreciate it. Forgot about the cement board used for tile.
I thought I was told the smartside stuff had cement in it for some reason.
I should research the materials I reckon.

Don't you have OSB or Plywood behind the siding? Get a screw long enough to get into that. Or even longer and hit a stud.

yeah, if I were mounting something to the siding. I am not.
This is under a covered porch in the corners where it’s trimmed out with the smartside.
