Cement Flaking

Hi all,

My cement edge, the 10" or so just infront of the garage doors between the door and the blacktop is spalling or flaking. Since I have no drains, and the floor slopes toward the door, snow and slush drip off cars, run under door and re-freeze. This is really screwing up that little apron area.

It is currently "untreated" cement. What would you recommend that I can apply to seal it up to stop the destruction for next winter?

Clean it, patch it, seal the **** out of it, once it warms up. Spalling is cancer of concrete IMO.

Where abouts are you located, spalling in front of the garage door seems to be common in the Midwest, here in places like Colorado driveways seem to spal like crazy, not the garage floor so much.

Located in Columbus, OH. The area I am talking about is the garage floor, but the leading edge that sticks out beyond the door outside in the elements.

Anyone know a product to seal this with?

Go to your local redimix plant and buy what they have for sealer. Just don't do it till summer when it dries out.
