We have at work a whole range of mixers, the small Belle tumble mixers, a bigger diesel one and a pan mixer that goes on the handler that will do 2/3 cube in each mix.
Any more than a mixer truck worth though and you just get a mixer truck in.

Small mixers are handy when you have a smaller job to do in a spot you can't get a truck. Even though I have 7 acres, you can't get to my back yard with a big truck, so now you're talking adding the cost of a pumper. Most concrete trucks have a minimum as well.

I have a couple landings to pour, plus four post footers. I learned to use my mixer by watching a stone mason. He cut the bags in half with a trowel, and put in a half a bag at a time- much less weight to hump around. He also seemed to know roughly how much water to put in first, keeping the dust down. Keep the bags in the back of a truck so you don't have to move them twice, or bend down to the ground to pick them up.
