Ok I got some quotes for central air. $3000 installed for a goodman 2ton 13 sear, $3500 for a lennox same specs, and $3850 for an Amana same specs with a lifetime parts and labor warranty. I was wondering if it is worth the money to go with the amana with the warranty? Any AC guys out please weigh in. Thanks

There shouldn't that big of a price differential between Amana and Goodman (same company) since the Amana is a Goodman with protection switches and diagnostics added. Last time I installed an Amana it was about $100 over the Goodman.

Look at the warranty carefully. Is it for the compressor only?

What Lennox unit are thet quoting that only has 1 year warranty?
A 13 ACX will have a 5 year parts and 5 year compressor and a XC13 will have 5 year parts and 10 year compressor.
Right now if you register either online within 90 days of install you get 10 years parts and 10 years compressor. The company I work for will match that with 10 years labor if it is serviced by us every years.

Whatever you buy make sure it has a matched coil of the proper size and made by the same manufacturer as the A/C or if it's aftermarket make sure the A/C manufacturer will provide warranty if using an aftermarket coil(some will not and will require indoor coil model and serial before paying a warranty claim).

The goodman should come with a 10 year compresor and 5 year parts from the factory and if your dealer is a Goodcare dealer then he should be able to get you 10 years parts and Labor for an aditinal $200.00 on the goodman. I dont know how Lennox is there but here locally I tell customers to stay away from them . Dont get me wrong they are good units however when they break its going to be painfull on the wallet. There is only one distributor of Lennox in Louisville and they charge accordingly for parts ( usually tripple what the same part would be on another brand . The Amana most likely requires regular maintenance to keep the lifetime warranty in effect . I can tell you the average life of an AC system is 15-25 years ( depending on maintenance ) .

Go for the amana since it has a lifetime warranty. I think others would just have a 1 year warranty.
