Central Ohio, First time ever build

Hello all,
This is a first of many. First post, first building I have built, first time being a GC etc (electrical, gas, water, etc). So I started envisioning this workshop about 10 years ago and have a laundry list of wants and needs. Given location and time in my life I am the proud recipient of a workshop that I had envisioned so many years ago. I am a vehicle guy and this will primarily used for that purpose.

A little about the building. It is post frame construction, 12 foot eves. 10 foot garage doors, steel "scissor" trusses. At the center of the building interior hight is about 18'. (See pics). That should give me enough room for a lift. Because of the proximity to the house the garage had to match the house lines etc. so it has the same roof pitch, eve overhangs, siding type and color etc.

I had a contractor do the foundation, and another contractor erect the building and roof. I have done everything else to date. Still have a lot to do yet but progress is happening.

Electrical is in progress and the garage doors will arrive in a few weeks.

I have gained a lot of knowledge from this forum. Glad this is around.

I take it that is a 64 metals legacy kit you are building there. How are they to deal with?

I'm leaning that way for my summer build.

You are spot on. (Not British, just work for a British company) it is a 64 metals kit. The primary reason for it was the head room (of a steel bldg), the 6/12 pitch they offered it in (needed the same roofline as the house). And the economics of post frame construction. The building is 30x48. 64 says that for that size of a bldg it needs 2 (steel) trusses if using a steel roof. If shingled, one needs 3 trusses.
They were pretty easy to deal with. I dealt with the Internet sales person. Her name was Dorenda Green and I would recommend her to anyone, she did quite a good job. I also was a relatively "small fish" so I wasn't the highest pn 64 metals priority list. Couldn't seem to get an engineer until late. Then there were problems lining up the contractors, once they came it was good. I had the contractors set the posts, trusses and they ended up dung the roof (not originally planned). I am doing the rest. So the original plan was to start construction in mid October and we ended up starting in early December, so about a month and a half late. Some of that was my fault, I had some business travel in there too. Overall I would recommend 64 metals, they have a quality product and good customer service (Dorenda).

Still have a ways to go with the shop. Electrical, garage doors and concrete are the next things to be done.

You have the start of a nice shop going up. I'd suggest if you want more traffic on your build, start a thread in the Gallery section, post up the pictures and videos there. Just be prepared to answer questions and requests for more pictures.

Don't be afraid to stop while you are working and snap a picture of the work you have going on. Your build is only going to happen once, make a good record of it for the future.
