You can try it. My experience with any coating over polished aluminum is there is always some dulling down of the shine.
I've polished a lot of wheels and I usually recommend to leave them bare. I use a product called White Diamond that I get at Advanced Auto Supply. It leaves an incredible shine on a correctly prepped wheel and lasts longer then Blue Magic or even Mother's Billet Polish. Using this stuff it only takes a little while to shine them back up. With them naked at least you HAVE the option to shine them up.

I polished a set of aluminum Rallys for my truck a couple of years ago and haven't touched them since. I just keep them clean.
I used a corded drill with cones and buffs after sanded out to 2000 grit.
After a couple of sessions with red and white rouge.
This is nice but it's still not the finished product.
