CFL vs. Flourescent?

I am remodeling a garage and would appreciate your thoughts on CFLs vs. 4 ft Flourescent fixtures. I have screw-type fixtures. The way I see it, from a fixture cost, bulb lifetime the larger 85 or 105 watt CFLs seem to be best. How about light quality? Any opinions would be welcome.

I'm going LED.

16 can lights around the perimeter and 12 ea 4000L fixtures in the ceiling.

But that's just me....

I have 10 105W 400W equivalent CFL's in my 24x36 and it is plenty bright in there.
For the money I do not believe you can do as well with the 4 footers.

The neysayers will be along soon to tell you that you will burn in hell and your garage will either fall into a pit or just plain crumble if you use CFL's. However, I doubt many of them have ever been in a garage with a decent CFL set up.

My whole shop is CFLs. I like cheap, and it's plenty bright.

I have a large space 25K + sq ft, over the last couple of years I have put in 27 105W and 33- 55W CFL's. The light quality is good and they can be spaced as needed. I still have several areas to change out and, I have been very happy with both the price and warranty from 1000 Bulbs.

I use both, each a different purpose. It's too big to post here, plus I don't want to bore people. That said, if you can go led do it.

+1 on 1000 bulbs they are great.
