That secret passageway is killer! And i agree with the statement above regarding the suggestion of keeping it simple for the door.

So here are some final pics of both high lift doors done. Down to hiding all the little wires, painting all the caulk joints and also moved my viper banner over this new single door. I wanted to do a different banner above the tv. I still need to add a couple outlets in the ceiling at the new openers but I have easy access from the attic storage above. Otherwise 99% done. I love both of these looking the same and they are so quiet!

Hi Chad
Hope all is well. I saw your post on my thread (thank you). I had to come back over to visit.

What an amazing change the door height has made. I always disliked those tracks and frames hanging low in my own garage, and of course now you've got me thinking.

Your garage and car collection is looking excellent.

Been waiting to spring this one on you guys after working on a deal for the last 2 months. This is probably my favorite car ever. So nostalgic and fun going through that 4 speed with the top down! It is an absolute blast and so beautiful. 1959 is the year.

AMAZING!! Love the addition of the lift and the new ride. A family friend had one out in Rick's neck of the woods, but in black. Was used in movie as well, the name escapes me at the moment.

Beautiful car! Just wish that I could fit in one. A good friend has a '61 and I've tried to drive it but just can't move the seat back far enough to get comfortable.

Thanks everyone! Lift is all together and working great but I'm working up the nerve to get a car on it ha ha. Actually they are all so low to the ground so I ordered some RaceRamps so I can drive up this weekend. Really happy with the lift and SO thankful I had pros do the install. Would be a pain without the forklift. I'll update again soon hopefully.

Simply Wow!! Incredible Garage and Cars!! the '59 vette is awesome! I was reading in another thread about a guy that built a pulley system to store the hard top above his car. It was a pretty cool looking system he developed. I thought it could be a cool solution for your '59. It kept the roof safe, out of the way and putting it on and off was a 1 man affair. I'll try to find the thread in case you are interested.

Chad ... I just went through this entire thread and I have to say ... DAYUM! This is the PERFECT setup for a house garage. I am definitely going to borrow a few, if not ALL your ideas. LOL

Question regarding the lift. I the same lift but my floor is bare concrete. I do not have it bolted down however, I do have it shimmed/leveled.

Do you plan on bolting yours down?

How will you make sure it is leveled?

I ask because I am planning on doing the race deck flooring and am going back and forth on pulling the lift out and putting the floor down and then putting the lift back in or just cutting around the lift and calling it a day.

Thanks!

Joe

I've been following along but haven't ever posted. While I like the big block Camaro (big blocks rule, in my book) that Vette is just stellar. I'd love to see what you'd do with a larger space, lord knows you're maxed out with this one.

That's the strangest Audi R8 I have ever seen. Is it some kind of body kit? LOL

Congrats on the new addition to the fleet. We can always count on your to keep upping the ante.

Is the plan for the Vette to go up above your SS? Is your wife getting bumped from the garage :)

The Camaro will go up top since it is not driven as often. The vette is getting used a lot right now so she stays down plus my wife drives the vette a lot! The lift helped get the wife back into the garage for her silver SLK. She's happy to be back in.

Thanks. I did get the hardtop hoist straps but after driving with the top off I don't think I'll ever put it back on. I like the idea of having it available in the winter though. Good idea.

Anytime hope you can use some!

Lift looks good in there. Im starting to think you have a strange obsession with the color red!

Yes, definitely have several issues including addiction to red! I merely tolerate my wife's silver car in the garage!

Yes I will have to put a couple of concrete anchors in. Only because when I try to drive on, the whole lift will slide forward on top of the racedeck. Pretty easy to slide it into different positions without using those roller wheels though. Once I like the spot exactly I will put some anchors in.

My lift is not shimmed but the platforms were set to be "within the bubble" on level. Still slopes with the floor but the installer said it would be fine.

Also sitting it right on top of the Racedeck worked fine. No different point load than having tires parked on it. Car is just on stilts now the way I see it.

Congrats, Chad. What is the story with the '59?

Thanks! Pretty neat that I ran across this car in a private seller ad up in Chicago. I've been talking with the seller since before Christmas. When we got close on a deal I flew up to see it and it did not disappoint. The owner had the car for the last 22 years. He was selling because his wife was dying of cancer and sadly passed away after I bought the car. Car was restored years back but the seller had it running like a swiss watch and always fixed any little item that had issue. Engine is NOM 327 bored 60 over with a mild cam. Sounds really great with the top off and going through the gears with that old 4 speed!

I have lots of old photos of the restoration and piles of receipts that are 30 years old. This person still stays in touch with the guy HE bought it from over 22 years ago. Couldn't be happier with the car and the neat history. I become friends with the seller and stay in touch/send him pictures. I think he likes that we plan to drive and enjoy the car a long time and carry on the love he and his wife had for it just like we do now.

Car was stored every winter in heated storage and very well maintained. Good buy that I can enjoy but probably make some money on when the day comes to sell it. This is my favorite car of all. Just nothing like the nostalgia of being transported back in time to 1959 when driving it.

Ha yes I kind of veered off course didn't I? I came VERY close to an R8 V10 deal but we both really love the 59 vettes too. We made the right choice since we already have some modern cars. I do love the R8 though. Maybe as the prices keep falling then a v8 version might happen someday but that is really my wife's dream car. If you saw my new banner above the tv you'll see what my real goal is down the road! I really want to add all the variety to my car collection possible. The more I explore each end of the car spectrum the more fun I have. Each car is just so different yet still amazing.

Hope you are doing well!

Some pics after putting the Camaro in the air. Can't believe I can get 4 cars in here now! So cool. I was a little nervous lifting it up for the first time but it worked great. Had to buy some RaceRamps with a lower slope to get the Camaro on the lift.

Wow, that red on the lift matches the interior perfectly! Looks like eventually you'll have the ability to store six vehicles inside the garage. Congrats on the '59 vette, beautiful addition to your collection already!

You got it! Trying to choose my last two dream vehicles is the hard part but looking forward to dreaming about it in years to come.

I would love to own a Ferrari one day. I also love hot rods such as a 32 ford. Another contender would be a '96 Viper GTS blue with white stripes.

What are your dream cars guys?
