I've been lurking this site for a year or so. I figured I'd join to share my garage now and my (hopefully) soon to be built garage.

I bought my first home 3.5 yrs ago at age 22 and it came with my current brick garage. Its been great, however, I've recently been married and we've quickly outgrown the house and the garage. For now, i'll just share what I currently own, and hopefully this will turn into a build thread for my future dream garage. Our house is currently pending and we've been shopping for a new home for a few weeks.

This garage served me well, its a double deep 2 car garage. I havent done much to it except install benches, storage, and since I live in Michigan, I converted a 55 gal drum into a wood stove for heat.

I've built, repaired, modified and restored many cars over the past 3 or so years in this little garage. here are some pictures:

In the first few months I could actually fit 4 cars in here, but that soon ended as I aquired a bunch of parts and junk after parting out a few hondas and vw's.

my garage quickly turned into a hangout, I would help alot of my friends with their projects and let them use the shop and my tools. I remembered what it was like not having a garage. it sucked.

A nice friend of mine paid for a lighting upgrade once upon a time for letting him use the shop. it was nice.

heres the wood stove. Unfortunatly I dont have any pics of it in action, and I had to remove it for safety reasons to sell my house.

My dad built me this kegerator and gave it to me for christmas. What a awesome gift! It fits the garage perfect.

obviously these pics are getting more and more current, and now the garage is full of parts/tools/etc and has alot less room.

Very little work has gotten done in this garage this winter. since I have keep my rust free civic out of the snow and my wife drives a brand new car I really dont have the space for a project right now. I've fired up the woodstove and organized my tools and parts in totes so the move will be seamless. But thats it for now. hopefully I can get some more space at the next house. we currently own 5 cars.

Not a terrible work space by any stretch. That lighting upgrade is really noticeable, even just in these photos! So I assume from your post that you're looking for a new home with more property to build a custom garage?

Thanks! And yes this space has served me well, but now the wifes car sleeps inside as well as my summer toy. This leaves no space for a winter project this year.

We are looking for a home with atleast an attached 2 car garage with space in the back yard to build my dream shop.

We've go our eye on 2 properties right now and both have 3 car attached garages to the house so that will be a great start. We will be submitting an offer this week on which ever one we decide on! ...im NOT looking forward to moving my garage equipment, tools and other rubbish i've aquired.

Wow Chad G, that is a nice looking garage. I love the beer spigot on the fridge. Welcome to Garage Journal.

Reviving this thread. I never updated when I bought my new house.

This was a 2005 built home with an attached 28x42x9.5 garage. Here’s what it looked like when I got it:

I also built a 24x36 barn to store more cars on this property. It was going to be my workshop but the attached larger shop just made more sense. It would have been impossible to get my matco triple bay down in the barn.

Ok update to current situation: I bought a lake house. It has a std 24x26 2 car garage. (Isn’t gunna cut it)

My lot is much smaller now. But it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t go bigger!

I’m approved for a 30x40x14 and construction has begun!
