Chads toolbox VS Amazon for Wiha/Knipex

I attempted to place a rather large order for Knipex and Wiha tools last night from Chads toolbox.com. Several tries at the online checkout failed, it kept bumping me back to the first page of checkout.

I then got curious and went searching for lower prices to have them match in case I actually get to order from them, perhaps I will call them next time and try to order over the phone.

What I found was almost every item at lower prices from Amazon.com. Chads had the lowest prices on Knipex for the most part but for Bondhus and Wiha I found every tool for less.

Is it worth trying to order from Chads? Do they tend to honor the price match policy?

I assume if I order from Amazon I will get items shipped whenever in a bunch of random boxes. Does Chads actually stock anything or is it the same back ordered nonsense where they ship things when they become available?

Thanks for any insight, experience. I will call Chads next week maybe but for now I am researching alternate places as I keep finding lower prices. Thanks again.

In my last order from Chadstoolbox, all non-Knipex tools were drop shipped from their respective distribution center (which included several items from (Felo/Bondhus and Wiha.) There was also a very large delay between the date I placed the order and the mailing date of several of the packages(ranging from 2 to 6 weeks:shocking:.)

Chads did all of my Wiha price matching with no questions asked, with the 10 (or maybe it's 15) percent bonus. They are shipped directly from a distributor, and there was a delay, but I knew that going in.

I placed an order last night from Chads for 2 sets of Felo screwdrivers, the Wera chiseldrivers, a Bondhus T handle stand, and the Knipex 10" plier wrench. I got an email today from their customer service that the Bondhus item was on back order and they dont ship incomplete orders. If you wanted them to ship multiple times, you have to pay shipping for each shipment. The wait time for my item isnt bad, should be shipped 2/8. But it figures that its the $3.00 item thats holding everything up.:lol_hitti

I ordered 176$ worth of 4 bit holders and the rest bits for 5/16 size bits and 2 of the holder 1/4 sized holders... They shipped what they had after a week with another order I placed and then shipped out another batch a week later and the rest should be in another week. They didn't charge me more and also gave me the 15% off... They are good about that. I am in no rush and knew I would have to wait because I ordered odd stuff. Also all the stuff was wera stuff.

Also within 60 days they will price match and that is including free shipping if other places offer that as well, they have done me right in the past.

Just wera, you use the code "testthebest" sorry it isn't everything, but it is better than nothing.

He definitely will adjust his prices down to match anything you find and show him, whether you are buying or not. Take a little time and hunt around the Internet beforehand.

My order of a few weeks ago, one item was adjusted before ordering and one during.
Amazon had some of the more popular items I needed, but they get enough of my business so I wanted to support an independent dealer.

Although the 15% discount that keeps getting mentioned in the forum, it appeared to be from a long time ago and didn't work for me. Not to say that there is not a new one, which I don't know.

That's the thing about so many of the on-line dealers today. It seems that few stock tools.

I guess that's just the way it goes, and you get a good price.

I believe Amazon does on a lot of the stuff I've bought from them direct.

That's the good thing about Ultimate Garage, who is now a well-stocked dealer of TopTul. I bought some Prevost and other stuff, and none of it was drop shipped.

I just ordered 3 knipex plier wrenches from Crawford Tool. Took 6 days total to get them from across the country. About the 3rd knipex order I've had with them. Same prices as Chadstoolbox. I'd recommend them.

I've had nothing but good experience from Chadstoolbox. Price matching is easy, I'd rather give just about anyone my money besides amazon. From the info I last got when I asked a week ago, the drop shipping of WIHA, FELO and Bondhus was a trial run that failed. They are back to stocking everything in house except Hazet, Stahlwille and the big pressure washers from Kranzle.

I should clarify that out of a dozen things only one odd item had to be ordered at Chads; all of the remainder were stocked.

When I wrote "hunt around beforehand" I meant before placing your order with Chad, not to buy helter skelter. Find the best price and present it to him if he is your dealer of choice.

Amazon does have access to quite a bit, but if you want that one odd sized screwdriver in a particular model, you might be out of luck.

On the other hand, I recently bought an automotive code reader from Amazon and I was amazed that they were selling the latest of the 4 iterations of upgrades at a price much better than all others. But again, the shortfall of Amazon, the writeup did not note the version and it took several emails over the course of several days and a bit of arm twisting to make them understand that their incomplete description in such a purchase inspired me to look elsewhere and that they would actually have to have a human being walk into the warehouse and look at the box if they wanted my business on that item. They kept telling me to call the manufacturer, as if they were to know what Amazon had on the shelf! They finally put two and two together.

The code works, but you must tell him to use it in the the comments field when you are placing the order, it is for first time customers only and only for wera, but I have placed about 6 or so orders all wera and he always let me use it. Again just let him know to add the code to the order in the comments field.

Too late now, but no regrets.

If it makes you feel better a couple of mine I didn't use not knowing that either... Or just no knowing about the code period, but I don't regret it as the stuff is top notch.
