When I complained they said that they were "cutting there losses" and refunded my money. Basically told me to screw off and go away (on a $1200 order). They are far from fair and honest in my experience. I suppose when your prices are the best you don't have to worry about customer service.

Note to self - avoid Chad's Toolbox

Yep no chads toolbox

I've come very close to ordering from Chad's Toolbox a few times, but these sorts of stories have always made me shy away from them at the last minute.

...Scratch them off my list of places to get products from.

they are *** clowns... 15% of the difference.... idiots :lol_hitti

right... let me find a lower price and NOT order there... but get 15% of the difference.... makes sense to me

Yeah I think I've heard about enough as well. Avoiding this place like the plague and happily paying few bucks more to their competitors like Amazon. Not worth the hassle. :dunno:

They did come through for you and were always consistent with their stated policy. They're probably watching this thread, and if they're smart they'll realize they aren't the only game in town and that they need the right people and policies in place to keep their customers happy.

Czechoslovakia is where they make their tools now.

I know the screwdrivers are, but I was under the impression (and I could be wrong) that at least some of their sockets and ratchets were of Taiwanese origin.

Interesting. Czechoslovakia hasn't existed since 1993. :eek2:

Let's see, German company, gimmicky ratchets made in taiwan, soft tip screwdrivers made in the Czech Republic, and they want to increase their prices.

Sounds a little like Sears.

I own one of their bit drivers and it is a solid enough tool. But paying $60 for a bulky, Taiwanese roto ratchet isn't something I'd do. To each their own, though.

He doesn't carry Wera as far as I know, but this fellow is a member here and strikes me as someone who would provide excellent customer service...like the above-and-beyond type.

So if European ratchets strike your fancy, he might be worth checking out.

When I got my last Wera screwdriver the pricing had went up, I'll be going with a new brand next time.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, I would prefer German made but the Czech's are not the Chinese. I have a couple of CZ rifles and they are as well built (actually better) then anything in their price range being made in the US right now.
It wasn't meant as a bad thing, just that Wera isn't making anything in Germany anymore.

Better alternative to asia IMHO, as it's at least on the same continent, which would potentially allow for proper QC procedures.

I didn't sign any recognition treaty... :p

"All WERA tools are made in the Czech Republic" is on the bottom of the Wera Catalog I downloaded though. If others hadn't confirmed that ratchet was Taiwanese, I'd have continued to think it made in CZ.

Unlike Sears though, Wera is actually crazy enough to make that stuff. :lol_hitti
