I like the idea of painting the trim on those wall boxes grey. BUT at the same time i do like that they somewhat mirror your bench in colour scheme. Its a no lose situation.

Has that base cabinet really helped? You don't have a lot of storage in your garage so I assume that would have been a saviour.

Chad, trust me when I say I have been thinking about your question. I would say leave the wood trim on your open cabinets as it is, it looks great.

Thanks for the feedback. I also like how the wood blends in with the workbench. Here is a shot of what I have done with the base cabinet. I set up a power strip and charge my batteries and store my power tools away and locked up. And yes that blower and vac are awesome.

Thanks for thinking this out. I agree and once you paint them there is no going back.

Were probably the only guys on the planet thinking about paint colour and workbenches and how they go together, but hey at least were not sitting around watching TV all day.

Thanks. I also have a small 4x8 storage shed that I store my bulk tools and lawn equipment. This saves the garage for all the cool tools.

Finally got my Snap-on Tool box. Snap-on Tools KRA-108 from 1963. Its got some nice patina on it. Does anyone know why it says Snap-on Tools instead of just Snap-on?

Built this little contraption. It adds another level of capabilities to a bench vise. It is good for holding small pieces of wood or flat metal for drilling holes or cutting, it is also nice if you need a perfectly level work surface.

I must say I built the holder before I fixed a doorway striker plate. I like doing little easy projects like that and now I have a purmanent place for them so they wont get lost.

I normally don't deface antiques but I am a person of opportunity (don't hate). My Snap-On KRA-108 from 1963 was originally designed and used for a lathe. The inside had special holders for the lathe attachments. I bought this tool box to use as an everyday travel toolbox and it will suit my needs.

I drilled out the spot welds and removed the holder tabs (I was carfull not to drill through the box itself). Then I plasti dipped the inside red and left the outside still with the nice patina. It turned out pretty good but I rushed the plasti dip application but it is going to get scratched up anyway with tools rolling around in it.

I have been wanting a fence between my driveway and the neighbors. They are great people but a little more privacy would be nice and I would like to park our jet ski at our house. The neighbors have been on board from the start and have even helped a little.

A fence is a must have for sure, no matter the relationship with the neighbors, which can always change. Whats the plan?

Me too. I will definitely like detailing the car and truck without having to worry about getting the neighbors wet, Haha.

True. I installed the eight foot poles two and a half feet deep in concrete. Tonight I got all the beams in place. The fence will be 6 feet tall and taper off at the end towards the ally. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can get the pickets up and build a gate and finish it off before Saturday. I would like to have a little cookout in the driveway this weekend.

Thanks. I plan on keeping the grass but I have a small jet ski/trailer I would like to park next to the driveway. I may end up putting some paving stones down in a small spot.

Thanks, not to bad for an iPhone pic. It is amazing how much better I like the overall atmosphere of the garage, now it feels like a home, not all open and exposed.

I am doing a solo 24 hour competitive mountain bike race May 30-31 so I have been getting my bike and gear all lined out. This will be my first 24 hour race, I hope it goes good. The race is to benefit cancer and it will be pretty laid back. My two main goals are to have fun and to place.

Just catching up on the past few months of your updates...

Have you tried the clip in pedals? They make a huge difference, I find it takes far less energy.

I always like seeing pics of your black truck, it is a sweet looking 4x4!
