This is my grandfathers old engine pulling block. It's made by American Chain and Cable Co. out of York, Pa. He got it shortly after he came home from the war in '46. I'm fixing to blast and repaint. What would be some good color combos? Pics for the win!

I'd try to stay as close to the original colors as possible

Ray

Back in the 1970's and '80's, when we were dealing (on a very small scale) in govt. surplus equipment, we had some of those come up in various lots.

Most were 'original', which meant that they were painted with thin coat of a sem-gloss black., presumably the cheapest paint which would keep the iron from rusting.

Some had a bit of gummy paint inexpertly daubed on the lower hook frame.....in 'safety yellow'.

I've a vague memory of different sizes of those chain falls, as new commercial stock, hanging on the walls of supply houses......best I could remember, they were just plain black, with the chains 'bright'.

cheers

Why, now that you have cleaned it up I think it looks good.
Put it back together and leave it

I get lost so easily.
What would make you want pallette choices from someone else?
Should I suggest the color that matches my garage?

I can almost understand the whole wilton green trauma some go through, but this one has me stumped.

Just like to see what others have done. Helps spark my imagination. Never thought of two-toning a Craftsman/Columbia vice until I saw it here, first.

Dark green

I'd suggest some random shade of gray, kinda like the first post from someone who joined 5yrs ago and just decided it was the perfect 5month old thread to dig up and say HI.
