My main saw is an Echo CS-670 with a 20" bar. I have 2 chains that I swap back and forth as needed. I use a Harbor Freight electric sharpener to take care of sharpening duties. Most of the time I get the typical little chain saw chips. The ones pictured are from the professional sawyers that I used to drop a large maple that was in the way of my new shop.
I decided to grab a new chain today. So I headed over to Home Depot to see what that had on the shelf, I grabbed the only one that they had that fit.
Added a new spark plug, air filter and a tank of high-test with a bottle of two cycle oil.
I fired the saw up and went after a couple of large logs. The saw chewed through the wood as I would have expected. My only issue was the chips looked odd. Long thin shavings. Not the chips I was expecting. Pic of those attached as well.
Is this an issue? Is the chain cutting incorrectly? Will I have any issues running the saw as is? Did I grab the wrong chain?
Thanks in advance.
