Evening gents, I’m looking for some input on chains. I’ve got an older Poulan 3300 with a replacement Oregon 20” bar. I know I’m looking for .325 pitch, .050 gauge, 78 drive links.

I’m looking for input on standard/full skip/semi-skip, and on full chisel or semi chisel.

I’m not worried about handling kickback, but I am worried if my 3.3ci (58cc) saw has the guts to keep the chain moving if I go with full chisel, standard chain. Am I going to be digging too much wood with a chain that aggressive?

Thanks for the feedback.

And while we’re at it, talk to me about drive bumpers. The 2 chains that Oregon recommends for this saw are identical except one has drive bumpers, the other doesn’t.

With a 20 inch bar I wouldn't bother with semi or skip tooth chain. Longer bars on bigger saws it's nice to sharpen less teeth.

Full chisel is better for alot of clean wood bucking and will cut slightly faster. If you are cutting smaller diameter and limbing semi chisel is fine. Semi chisel is better if the wood is dirty.

I'd order both a semi and full chisel and try them. The bumpers are for anti kickback. The extra weight keeps the chain speed down. If your confident with the danger of kickback get the chain without. I don't see much difference in smaller cc saws though.
