Hello everyone so I ordered 10 42 inch .063 404 pitch chainsaw chains 5 that rip and 5 that are full chisel.Problem is the 5 ripping chains have 123 drive links instead of the 125 the rest have and its to late to send them back. Does anyone got any advice as far as adding links or maybe shorten the bar possibly. One more thing is it very hard to modify one of the full chisel chains to a ripping chain.Im up for anything THANKS.

I feel bad about your dilemma.
Here are my top 3 suggestions:
-Add 2 repair links to each of the 123 link chains.
-Do you have a shorter bar you could use, and then shorten the 123 link chains to match.
- Send them to me to use on my Stihl 084, I have a 33" 99 link bar.

Yeah, sharpen at like 5* angle instead of 30*

Just add a few links.

You'll need a chain spinner tool to put in new link. There is no master link on saw chain. You have to buy preset links to make new connections. It might be worth it to ask if a local shop can add the links or you.

A good local shop should be able to add a couple of links. Would be cheaper than buying tools I suspect.

Any saw shop should be able to give you some links. I always used to buy 100' reels of chain and make my own. You always had a length of chain left over. The master links need to be peened flat (you'll need 2 per chain to do an extension). The saw shop should have the master links and the little anvil the chain rides in so you don't pinch the drive links.

Holy ****, what?

Anyways, how does the budget bar relate to a chain being made/sold with the wrong links?

I bought some over length chains for cheap, knowing they could be cut to fit my small 8" limb saw .
I took one in to be shortened and one in to sharpen. the total cost was like $12...
