So I was looking through the forums and found a members garage (dickwitham) that had this chair that I have attached. The minute I saw it I realized I needed it and I realize this is OT but anyone have any idea where it came from? Thanks.

Chris

Those are awesome chairs... of course, I've got a thing for deco and mid-century furniture. Unfortunately, my wife has different tastes, but I will one day own an Eames lounge chair, a pair of the van der Rohe/Reich Barcelona chairs, and a living room full of Le Corbusier stuff too.

My dad owns one made of rosewood which I guess they can't make anymore. Simply love it, so comfortable and just a timeless design.

Stuff like that made me look into a lot of other modern/mid century design stuff and I hope I can get more of it as I love the lines of them.

I had a job out of college where I had to read all day. The company bought each of us an Eames chair so that people visiting the office would see us working in fashionable chairs. They're very comfortable, although I prefer the admittedly-not-very-attractive one I sit in, now. (It's an old Ekornes 'Stressless,' made in Norway.)

As with so much else, there's a Harbor Freight option. If you don't want to pay top dollar for the authentic Eames-approved original, there's a company called Sphere Designs which sells their 'Ames Style Collection' of Eames knock-offs for a lot less than Herman Miller charges for the genuine item. You can get a reproduction of the famous recliner and ottoman for $999 through them. Sphere Furniture Link

I bought mine (including the ottoman) for $50 at a yard sale about 20 years ago :) They were just carrying it out to the yard as I was driving by; I jumped out of the car, saw the price tag, gave them the money and ran.

I do have to say I'm not sure if it's an original Herman Miller or not (I never found any nametags or anything to positively identify it) but it does seem to be of pretty high quality.
