I know this is old but my Dad sold Proto Challenger tools in the 70's , and the companies are still around in Canada , I have a 3/8 drive ratchet 1249Challenger Proto and I just got a replacement for both of them 1/2 drive and 3/8 drive , and the lady that called to see about the replacement said this was from the 70's , wow great service , the company is now Stanley Black and Decker Canada located in Mississauga Ont.

Bill, when the company said they would replace it I told the lady , it was my dad's and wanted to re-build it and keep, not sure why I have about 10 ratchets of all kinds , but the 3/8 dr and 1/2 drive came from my dad. special I guess.
So the new one is on it's way ,and I get to keep the old one .
