I recently purchased a used Challenger CL9 from a local distributor. After I installed the lift, I noticed that while raising it loaded or unloaded, the locking pawl on the idler side does not engage. It is loose and fully extended, but it appears the carriage is too far away for the pawl to engage. There is play in the carriage in and out (I can move the carriage in and out with some effort). While I am not a lift expert, and have not been able to get in touch with the rep that sold it to me, it seems to me that the slide blocks appear worn, allowing the movement forward and back. Does this make sense? Assuming this is the issue (please tell me if you think I am wrong) how difficult is it to replace the slide blocks. It looks as though the carriage needs to come out of the column, which looks like the column needs to be laid down for this to happen.
