Love the build, though they never are finished are they....

Just realized I never properly ended this thread! Well, after 3.5 years of weekends and holidays, it DID get finished! We've been enjoying it since about July. Took it to a couple shows, won a couple trophies and now she rests for the winter. It's been an awesome adventure.

Original 2 bbl carb and manifold restored and resting in trunk. This set-up was replaced by a date-correct Thermoquad carb that I completetely rebuilt and an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold - the first parts I bought for the car, and my first purchases from ebay.

e-tek, beautiful job on the Challenger!! I'm going to start restoring my '71 Road Runner as soon as the garage is done. I noticed the AMD box in one of the above photos. How do you like their parts? I purchased their quarters for my RR.

Get that intake out of the trunk, I'v e seen several times where really nice cars were pissed up because of a minor incident that cause stuff to slide in the trunk.

One friend had a really nice old Galaxy, was forced into an evasive maneuver that caused stuff to slide. He couldn't decide if he was more upset about the big divit in the rear quarter, or the bent rod on a freshly prepped by Falicon KZ1000 crank.

Another friend was always collecting every double hump Chevy head he could get hold of, seemed like always had a set in the trunk of his Camaro, must have had 30-40 pairs at home. Wasn't really happy when one slid in his trunk and punched a hole in his rear quarter.

Really nice car BTW, it's come a long ways and looks great.
Too bad it doesn't have the pistol grip manual trans.(What is it with me and your cars, I want all of them to have 4 speeds??)

Thanks all on the kind words - I'm very happy with the final product. The AMD quarters where great, as where some step sills I got for a 56 Chev truck, but some drop-offs for the Chally looked like they were shaped over a tree-stump with a baseball bat! I'm sure they've properly tooled-up for them by now though!!

I LOVE how this turned out. Can I ask what you did to restore these dash pieces? I have an old car that I'm working on and I have no idea how to restore old internal plastics like this. ESPECIALLY the stuff with the raised lettering like what you have shown below.
