Hi everyone,
Just wanted to post what I found about the light on my Chamberlain ATS2113X opener. I was having issues that the light would not turn off when opened. At the time I had the ordinary opener button that was just a single button to open/close. I found that to have the light automatically turn off I needed to buy their, "Multi-Function Garage Door Opener Control Panel with Lighting Control." In my case I got the LiftMaster 78LM.
The light still did not turn off after 4-1/2 minutes as documented in the user instructions.
As pointed out by user steaks&anvils you can set the time using the wall controller in this thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/garage-door-opener-courtesy-light-time-limit.489633/
I thought I'd add a bit of info.
Each time you press and hold the LOCK button for about 10 seconds the light on the unit will blink either 1, 2, 3 or 4 times indicating the light-on time as 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 or 4.5 seconds. Repeat the steps to cycle through the light on times.
I did this but still found that I would notice the light on sometimes while working in my garage.
I then found there's a, "Safety Light" feature. When the door is open, if you cross the safety beam it will turn the light on for the set time.
What was frustrating for me is neither of these features is documented in the instructions included with either the opener or the Multi-Function Control Panel.
Just thought I'd pass on this info. Hopefully it'll save others time that I wasted thinking my opener was broken
.
Larry.
P.S. I've seen others comment that using an LED bulb caused issues. I'm using an LED bulb in this unit without any issues... that I've found!
