I have my new Chamberlain jackshaft garage door opener in. It works fine, as others have noted, slower than center pull, but fine. It does wobble quite a bit in operation. The instructions say if the garage door rod is not straight it will do that and it is normal. But considering the mount has to absorb the torque of the opener everytime you use it, and it only has one kind of flimsy looking mounting bracket...should I worry about it? Should I try to fix it? everything is all set up and working fine, but I want it to keep working fine for a long time.

YouTube link (pretty exciting stuff)

I have four of them I installed and one did the same thing. I loosened the collar and rotated it 90 degrees, all was good after that.

I don't have a jackshaft door opener, but I've worked on literally hundreds of shaft drive types of equipment with collars and hubs similar to that. Fit is sometimes crucial. Make sure the set screws are all at as close to the same tension as possible. Treat them like torquing a cylinder head. Sneak up evenly on each bolt until tight. Don't tighten each one all the way, one at a time.

That makes sense, I will loosen and turn the collar and tighten up like a cylinder head.

Did you ever solve your wobbling issue? I installed two, one is smooth, other wobbly.

I've installed 6 of these; they all will have a little bit of wobble, due to the fact that your shaft probably isn't fully straight (they're just thin pieces of tube with weight on them and a center bracket that isn't perfectly mounted relative to your end plates) plus you may have installed the motor unit at a slight angle as well. I would agree with the others - loosen the collar and spin and retighten, as well as get the secondary bracket in the "best" position possible. Try to minimize the wobble as much as possible, but be aware that it will never be 100% perfect.
