Chamberlain RJO20 = Liftmaster 8500? Same issues?

In need of a couple of door opners for my pole barn. Been following some of the trouble with the random door openings of the Liftmaster 8500's, but couldn't resist when I saw the Chamberlain RJO20 on clearance at Lowe's in the hot deals section.

I know Chamberlain and LiftMaster are the same company, so I'm sure most of the hardware is the same. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this model opener and if I should be contacting Chamberlain about some sort of update or recall.

8500’s released a improved opener control board, time will tell. So far so good.

I'm looking at the RJO20, also, and was wondering if anyone had the same issues as with the 8500(W). I had heard that the Chamberlain version had the WiFi built into the shaft-mounted unit instead of in the wall-mount controller. If this is true, then it would be more closely related to the Liftmaster commercial version.

I think the RJ020's are being discontinued for a newer (improved) model?

I just put 2 Liftmaster 8500W's in and they are AWESOME so far!

Summary, Differences between models:

• 3800
  - The 3800 uses a different absolute encoder or travel module, part number #041A6118.
  - The 3800P, uses an improved absolute encoder or travel module, part #041A6408.
  - The 3800PLD, also uses absolute encoder or travel module, part #041A6408. The logic board was improved to allow 10 cycles per hour. The LD in PLD stands for Light Duty.
  
• 8500/RJO20
  - moved the programming of the accessories to the door controller
  - connect the unit to the internet by way of accessory model 828LM Internet Gateway
  
• 8500W
  - built in Wi-Fi
  - Accessory programming can be done from motor unit
