Champion compressor

I have a friend that has a Champion vr5-8 that is looking to just unload for free. I can't test it since it has the 5hp 3 phase motor. In any case it looks it fairly good condition I'll try to post pics. So my question is would I be better off just looking for another compressor that is up and running or do you guys think with the worst case senario I could get that thing working for a reasonable amount of money.

You can load 7 pictures at a time using Manage Attachments down at bottom of post . . . use Edit, then Go Advanced on your first post and just fix it. Also, ALL of your pictures are SIDEWAYS.

Search nationwide on CL for single phase motor with Google search like:
baldor 5 HP single phase motor site:craigslist.org
leeson 5 HP single phase motor site:craigslist.org

With FREE compressor, I'd say Go For It and put together single phase compressor, especially since it's a Champion !!

You can't beat a free champion compressor. If you can not find a used motor, then worst case is $350 in a new motor EBAY MOTOR. Just make sure you match the RPM and the shaft diameter.

Thanks guys sorry about the pics. I did go to the advanced link and it shows you can load multiple pics and I did load them in the different spots but when I hit the upload button it only loads the top pic so I would need the motor and Do I need a magnetic starter as well? I'm not sure on that one I'm still learning but from the threads I have read it seems they go hand in hand?
