Change fan speed???

Ordered a new ceiling fan from Lowes. Came complete with 5 speed wall control. Is there a way to make it slower??? The first or slowest speed to me could be speed 4. The ceiling has not lifted but has to be close lol.

Any suggestions?

Do the instructions say what rpm each speed should be ? Most of the ones I have seen turn pretty slow on "slow" speed. Maybe call the manufacturer and ask ? Or see if Lowes has any on display that you can try and use for a comparison ?

Does the fan also have manual speed control chain/switch ? Might slow it down with it.

We can get electronic controllers out here for ceiling fans that would replace the controller you have they are "Clipsal" brand that work very well.
It may be worth asking at your electrical wholesalers..

The instructions do not say what approx RPM each speed is. There are no chains or lights on this fan. The nearest Lowes store is a three hour drive so I had it shipped.

I did find a place to ask questions on web site. I am waiting for an answer.

Dumb question. The switch does vary the fan speed... correct, just not as slow as you would expect it to be? I mean noticeable speed changes.

A Litex Industries UT56TBC3M, which appears to be the same fan, lists three speeds, low 36 watts and 2,569 CFM, medium 56 watts and 3,451 CFM, and high 73 watts and 3,852 CFM. but its specs also say 5 speeds.

The fan also appears to be sold under the Ellington name.

How many wires does the fan have going into it? Two? more?

Yes fan speed varies and all are too fast.

I slowed my ceiling fan down by increasing the blade angle of attack.

There is probably something more elegant, but what about a router speed control?

Harbour freight has one for 20 bucks? Most lighting controls won't do motors, but you may be able to cannibalize the HFT router control and jam it in a wall box to look nice.
