Change out drawer, Snap On KRA/Classic box

Good afternoon all. I’m toying with the idea of changing out the large/deep drawer on my KRA 2422. I’d like to replace it with 2 shallower drawers. Anyone do this before? Any other ideas to make the drawer more useful? Don’t need it to store bulky items and more drawer space would always be useful. It’s the drawer on the lower left.

Check to see if you have the flanges for the slides welded in to the box to allow you to make that change. On the older ('60's) Snapon boxes that I have, they didn't weld in any extra flanges. You only got what you ordered.

Thanks for the reply, I do have the “notches” for different spacing of the rails.

The new boxes allow you to re-arrange the drawers. So you should be GTG with two small drawers. One thing you can’t do is use the better KRL slides on a KRA box. Although KRL slides will fit on a KRA drawer it ends up make the whole assembly to wide and it won’t fit back in. I tried it……

Thanks, did you order slides/drawers from Snap On? I’ve emailed Snap On, waiting for reply.

I got mine through my dealer. I’ve never noticed drawers on the website.

Just a follow up, Snap On replied with part #s. Not cheap but cheaper than a new box.
