Received a new sales ad today. There is a 46 inch tool chest with the name brand of Yukon Listed at $289 which is really cheap for a 46". Reading the description shows a maximum capacity of 1200 pounds...that isn't much weight at all for a 9 drawer 46" chest. That must be some seriously thin gauge steel.

Of the changes that are being kicked around, lower quality is not something I was looking for.

Went and looked up the 44 inch that everyone talks about on here, it's capacity is 2633 lbs, over twice as much. Guess the Yukon stuff really won't be anything to get excited about.

I am disappointed with the price of the Husky clone.

But I am glad they didn't put a US General sticker on it.

Then put a US General Pro on their original boxes and jack up the price like just about every other store box brand has done in the past.

If they come out USA/Canada/Europe made quality tools, I'd be a loyal HFT customer.

I never understood this logic. I'm NOT bashing your stance, everyone is free to have their own opinion about how they feel about things. My trouble though, is the people that post such a hard anti HF opinion (not saying you did, or that my opinion applies to you either), but yet they seem to have no trouble shopping at Home Depot or Lowes for any of their needs.

I've found many of the HF items to be of great value and good quality for what most people need. There plenty of **** to be found in the store, but when you pay $2 for it, you can hardly say it's not obvious.

HF only "offers" people a choice. Nothing more.

Some people want to buy American made tools for the same price as foreign made.

If HFT is going to start charging more I might as well just buy Tekton at that price. At least I can buy those on Amazon with my Amazon card & get points & get free/discounted tools out of it.

Hopefully the change to the stores involve some form of better ventilation. You walk out of that place smelling like chinese rubber

That's just about the same price as the box they're ripping off.

You need to think of items like you would food, or dog food even.. every dog food label doesn't "make their own" food.. they goto a factory that MAKES DOGFOOD.. somebody walks in and says "hi, I wanna make my own dog food label", and here's the recipe I want.. Manufacturer responds "ok, well here's the list of all the ingredients we've sourced and can get bulk supplies of, let's sit down and see how close we can get to what you want using our stuff".

Same thing with tool boxes and stuff.. they'll offer 3 different gauges of steel, 3 different slide options, 8 different colors.. and they pick from it like a menu.. certain "recipes" are probably reserved for certain buyers or brands - and that's why you'll see 20 different screwdriver companies selling the same screwdrivers basically. But they have different shaped handles, different color grips, different grade metal.. they create their own combination to launch their own brands, all from the same manufacturing facility.. did you think shoprite had their own factory for every "shoprite brand" item they have in the store? No - they approach 40 different manufacturers that can each make a different food item, and package it in a box that says "shoprite" on it, all with their own slightly different recipe.

They had one at my store when I was in the other week. Drawer slides weren't smooth felt real rough and the overall construction looked cheap and thin. I'm going for the 44 inch when I buy one

They've got new wire, which is precision wound wire (except for the Flux Core Wire), not random wound. That certainly adds to the expense in production and even some well known brands are not precisions wound.

I picked up the new "Vulcan" 4043 Aluminum 1lb spool since I had used almost all of my Aluminum wire. I only started welding aluminum yesterday (literally), but the wire ran well nonetheless. I had a few bird's nests, but that was probably me sticking the wire to the tip causing the wire to back up....

It all came off the spool smoothly and I never had a feeding issue because of how it was wound. Seemed to wet out fine and didn't have any issues with it. For $7, hard to go wrong.

Go easy on my welds, I am pretty new to Aluminum!

I may have to try the solid wire at a later time to see how that stuff runs too.

I handled the new Earthquake 1/2" 20V gun the other day. It definitely seems like a 2763 copy, at least in outward appearance and shape, and even the forward/reverse control.

I'm a Milwaukee fan boy but don't care........the Chinese copy everything and a lot of it they copy fairly well. If it works, ok. That's the free market (and we all know copyrights or patents are pretty much meaningless here)

If HF nails it the big names will just have to step up their game.

Otherwise, if I was just looking to get into cordless and I lived near a HF and if they bring the prices down a bit I might buy into the 20V Earthquake stuff. As others have observed seems like their pricing isn't that much below something like Milwaukee, at least not enough for a lot of consumers to take the risk.
