I recently purchased a mid 1940's Walker Turner Drill Press. The Chuck was damaged and had a slight wobble. Last weekend I picked up a replacement.
From what I have read the chuck should pop out. But when I tried to the entire shaft started comming out.

Anyone have any insight on how to remove this.

and remove this chuck so I can install it on my press.

how were you trying to remove?
you need 2 spanner wrenches, but the wobble is probably because the spindle is bent, not because of the chuck

Hi GTI,

Have you been using a spanner wrench on the locking collar? It should be possible to turn the locking collar down and pop the chuck off.

The spindle coming out is... Odd. I'm not familiar with the construction of those drills. However, the people at OWWM.org are very familiar with them. One thread which might help:
